Disulfiram was originally discovered in 1888 and lisenced in the US by the FDA in 1951. It has mulitple pharmacological activities against varied conditions. It is most known as Antabuse used for decades as an alcohol inhibitor. It was discovered in 2016 by Dr. Rajadas and Pothenine at BioADD lab in Stanford Medical Center to eradicate Lyme in vitro and in vivo after testing over 8,000 FDA cleared pharmacological compounds. Disulfiram was #1. It's been used since 2017 by pioneering Dr.'s like Kenneth Liegner (pictured above), to prove effective in a clinical setting to help persistent Lyme patients reduce symptoms, and reach remission.
Patients need a treatment that is effective against the persister cells of borrelia. We've known since 1989 borrelia persists, we have multiple studies found under the "Publications" tab. The goal of this website is to have one up to date place to hold all relative information about treating Lyme and coinfections with Disulfiram. Our mission is to assist patients and the medical community to use this treatment as safely as possible. All information is reliably sourced and noted.
I will post the review of all the literature here known as "The Disulfiram Papers" when it's released (soon!). These papers are a review of the relative literature over 68 years of patient use of Disulfiram. Much needs to be studied around this treatment, but patients are having success going "low and slow". Click the DSF Guidance tab for protocol and experience from treating physicians and watch interviews such as avoiding side effects. We are hopeful for an effective treatment but are not recommending or marketing any certain drug, treatment or research lab. There are no conflicts of interest around this drug, website, Texas Lyme Alliance or its board. Thanks for joining us here and we wish you and/or your loved ones total health and happiness!
